let the good times roll…

Well it may simply be my naive attempt at wanting to think I know more than I really do about the current situation in Pakistan but I can’t help but see too many similarities between it and the recent film V For Vendetta. One one hand we have a military dictator who has seized control via force and will not stop until the civilian population is abiding by his every word. Then on the other we have the Democratic Ex-Prime Minister Ms. Bhutto trying to resurrect  the way things used to be via peace and equality. To me that sounds a little too familiar. Now granted Ms. Bhutto isn’t going to turn into a self proclaimed vigilante that roams the streets at night trying to settle a score with the government stemming from her past, but in all honestly - it would be cool if she did. I mean come on, she’s already had a suicide bomber try to take her and her envoy out. No matter what the outcome is though, Gen. Musharraf has taken the idea of power and turned over a new leaf. Recently having over 400 protesters and even some opposition leaders arrested in the streets. Meanwhile of course, Ms. Rice has declared that democracy be restored and just as smooth as a recorded message playing over and over a pentagon spokesman assured everyone that this does not affect our war on terrorism. Clearly that is the case right? I mean with Taliban insurgents increasing in the north and pro al-qaida  groups increasing as well,  sounds to me like this has nothing to do with it. Well if I’m arrogant enough to believe that I guess there’s no way in hell the states will. You know the underlying premise of it all though is that its true, the people do control the government. From watching the world though you’d probably never realize it.
